Following in the footsteps of Shakespeare

All these long years, I have been a fan of Shakespeare - having read a few of his comedies. I have known that Shakespeare had invented a number of words in English - some of them being assassination, champion, torture; but it came as a pleasant surprise when I came to know that he had invented as many as 30 words - mind you - these are the ones that have been definitively associated with him - no idea how many have not been.

Never once, in all my years on God's Green Earth, have I ever given a damn about inventing a new word in English. Well, along came that day, and the wait was over. I and a friend of mine - Lulu- have come up with a new word( well the word was hers, but the idea that we need to come up with a new word was mine ;-) ). And without much ado, the word is

Binner© b i n u r

No, it has nothing to do with trash. No, it has nothing to do with bins.

It is a meal of the day, well...night to be precise. Binner© is a meal that you have between dinner and breakfast (in some places between supper and breakfast). Binner© is defined as any non-snack meal that is had between 2:00 am and 4:00 am. Anything earlier counts as a late dinner and anything later counts as an early breakfast. The older generation may be skeptical about this term and may feel that it is wasted nomenclature. Surprisingly though, binner© is the most popular meal amongst teenage kids and students - especially, those who stay away from their parents, and more interestingly, we were having binner© when we(she) came up with this term.

English Ahoy; Shakespeare - Guide me in your footsteps :-))

  2. How about 'linner' - too late for lunch, too early for dinner?
